3 reasons why we decided to go online with our certification program
Assalamu'alaikum,
I can be a very stubborn person sometimes.
Since the announcement of the first certification program in Dallas, we got lots of emails from folks who wanted us to run the certification program online, and my answer was... nope, never!
I felt it was important that if we're going to certify someone to train the Productive Muslim program, the program HAD to be in person. Otherwise, it would lose the... well, I wasn't quite sure what it would lose, but I was convinced it had to be in-person.
But, as they say, never say never.
As with all debates inside Productive Muslim Company, the question we come back to is:
What's the intention?
And my intention for the Productive Muslim Certification program is 3-fold:
Increase the reach of the Productive Muslim program to a wider audience beyond those whom we already reached.
Improve the Program's quality by getting others to deliver the program and giving us feedback on how it can be improved.
Become a Sadaqah Jariyah (on-going charity) for myself, my family, and my team insha'Allah.
With those intentions clear in my heart, I had to challenge myself, why I was unwilling to go online and even flip the question and ask: What benefits would going online bring to our trainers?
I came across three big benefits:
โ๏ธ Save travel costs
Traveling to attend a one-week certification program is very costly, involving flights, accommodation, and other traveling expenses. For some people who could afford the certification program, the additional travel costs were a deal-breaker and they couldn't make it.
Hence, by going online, we are cutting the cost of the certification program for our potential trainers (a kind of discount ๐).
โ Extended learning time
During the previous two cohorts of the certification program, we tried to cram the entire certification program into four and a half days. It was intense, and it was a lot of information. Although the trainers rose to the challenge and stayed alert and engaged for the entire week, I could tell that it was overwhelming.
By going online, we can extend the learning time from one week to several weeks, thus giving trainers the time to reflect, digest, and practice what they learn.
๐จโ๐ซ Increased practice sessions
Speaking of practice, one of the best parts of the certification program was the practice sessions our trainers had to teach some of our material. But again, due to the short time frame we had during certification week, we didn't have enough time for practice.
By going online, we can have additional practice sessions that really give our trainers the confidence that they can teach this material on their own.
For all the above reasons, I changed my mind and decided to go online for the next certification program that will start on 27th Rabi-I 1446H (October 1st, 2024), insha'Allah.
This decision aligns perfectly with our high-himmah intention at The Productive Muslim Company to spread beneficial knowledge and empower spiritually intelligent leaders.
