The Book I Didn't Want to Write 😥

Assalamu'alaikum,

After publishing my first book, "The Productive Muslim," I promised myself not to write another book. The process was so grueling, filled with endless frustration and self-doubt, that I couldn't imagine going through it again.

However, a couple of years later, I started getting the itch to write another book - a book about Barakah.

At first, I resisted the idea. Who am I to write about Barakah? Surely there were countless books on the subject?

Deep inside - I was afraid.

I was afraid of going through the painful process of writing another book. And, between me and you, I was afraid of failure. I felt I got "lucky" with my first book, and I could never repeat its success.

One day, while visiting my good friend Ibrahim Tahir from Wardah Bookstore in Singapore, I mentioned to him that I was researching Barakah and wondered if he had any books on the topic. He noted that there wasn't one book that spoke about Barakah, and then he turned to me and said, "Maybe you should write it!"

In that moment, my heart set the intention to write "The Barakah Effect" book.

But I had two issues to deal with:

  1. My fear of failure—I had to realize that I needed to upgrade my intentions and not write my book with the intention of it being another best-seller but with the intention of spreading beneficial knowledge for the sake of Allah, regardless of whether anyone reads it or not.

  2. I had to overcome my fear of writing another book by setting up a clear, less painful writing process.

Alhamdulillah, on the Day of Arafat 1441H, I penned the first words of "The Barakah Effect." This time, the whole process wasn't as painful as I thought it would be.

I discovered a framework that not only eased the process but made it—dare I say—enjoyable!

I'm excited to share this approach with you in my upcoming webinar: "How to Write an Islamic Self-Help Book in 12 Months." The webinar will take place on Wednesday, 5th Rabi-II 1446H (9th October 2024), at 3:30 pm Makkah Time/7:30 am Central Time, covering the following topics.
