The Ummah Needs Your High Himmah

You're not too small to make an impact

Assalamu’alaikum,

In 1962, John F. Kennedy was visiting the NASA space center. During his visit, he noticed a janitor carrying a broom.

He walked over to him and said, "Hi, I'm John Kennedy. What are you doing?" The janitor responded, "Well, Mr. President, I'm helping put a man on the moon."

A long time ago, I purchased a big volume of books with the title "صلاح الأمة في علو الهمة" loosely translated to "The Success of an Ummah lies in the loftiness of its ambition"

I'll be honest. I never had a chance to complete the reading of these volumes (I guess I don't have high himmah in reading :P). Still, the title always intrigues me and reminds me that if we want our Ummah to succeed, we must have high himmah (aspirations/ambitions).

It's easy to think that you're too small to have an impact in the Ummah, but like the story I shared above - I wonder what our Ummah would look like if each member - young or old, male or female - made it their "himmah" (ambition) to "free al Aqsa mosque" or unite the Ummah.

What a different world we'd live in.
