🌙 What's Your Special Ramadan Project?

Turn Ramadan into a launchpad for one meaningful project that serves the Ummah

3rd Sha’ban 1446H

Assalamu'alaikum,

Ramadan is just weeks away, and with it comes an extraordinary opportunity to launch something special in your life.

Yes, we're all busy preparing our homes, adjusting our schedules, and readying our souls for Ramadan. But what if I told you there's a powerful way to multiply the Barakah of this sacred month by leveraging this special month to launch a unique “high-himmah” project?

What is a high-himmah project? A high-himmah project is a project that is God-centered, impact-driven, and akhira-focused. It’s something meaningful you want to do for yourself and the Ummah. A book you want to write, a charity project you want to start. For example, in recent years, my high-himmah project during Ramadan was the Barakah Effect book which was completed in Ramadan - alhamdulillah.

Why is Ramadan the best time to work on these meaningful projects? The answer lies in its unique spiritual ecosystem:

  • Fasting subdues our lower nafs, allowing our higher self to emerge that wants to achieve higher meanings in life.

  • The shayateen are chained, reducing negative influences on our thoughts and intentions such as doubt and fear.

  • Our connection with Allah SWT improves through increased ibadah, making us more likely to ask Allah for Barakah and Tawfeeq in all that we’re working on.

Let me be clear – this isn't about turning Ramadan into a productivity marathon. It's about aligning our creative pursuits with this spiritual season to work on a high intention/high impact project. Your project should complement, not compete with, essential Ramadan acts of worship like Quran recitation, taraweeh, fasting, and qiyam.

What might you work on during this coming Ramadan? Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing…

  • You could write that book that's been in your mind for months

  • You may develop a curriculum to teach a useful skill to young people

  • Perhaps you'll start that sadaqah jariya project that will last beyond your lifetime

  • You might start a business that addresses a genuine community need

  • You could launch that podcast you and your friends have always spoken about

There's also something psychologically powerful about starting a meaningful project in Ramadan. In psychology, it’s called “the fresh start effect”. Just as January 1st motivates people to start new habits, Ramadan provides another opportunity for a fresh start – one that is backed by Barakah and Allah's mercy.

This Ramadan, channel the Barakah effect into a meaningful project that contributes to the betterment of yourself and our Ummah. Even the smallest projects planted with the right intentions in these blessed days can grow into something remarkable with Allah's permission.

What's your special Ramadan project? Think about it and let me know. I'd love to hear from you!

Sincerely,
