Your Dreams Need Time ⏳
Why we shouldn't rush our dreams
Assalamu'alaikum,
Have you ever tried to cut an unripe avocado? 🥑
Yup, it's as hard as a rock - not even your sharpest knife can cut through.
But wait a few days, and that same stubborn avocado cuts effortlessly with a butter knife.
What did you do differently? Nothing... you just gave it some time.
Often when we approach a goal in life, we gather all the necessary ingredients for success: the right intentions, the right skills and tools, lots of determination. Yet sometimes, despite our best efforts, success remains elusive.
We get frustrated. We question ourselves, our methods, our worth. But then, months or years later, those same goals that once seemed impossible suddenly become achievable with ease.
Sometimes we forget to be like the gardener who understands that no amount of effort can rush a seed's journey into a mighty tree. (In fact, forcing results before their due time can actually be detrimental!)
Yesterday marked 17 years since the start of ProductiveMuslim.com. I'll be honest, there were dreams we had for ProductiveMuslim in those early years that are only now coming to fruition. Looking back, I'm grateful to Allah SWT for that delay because neither I nor my team were ready for some of those goals then.
We humans are created of haste (Quran 21:37). We want everything according to our timeline. But Allah SWT has set things according to His Divine Wisdom, and often there's profound khair (goodness) in what seems like delay to us.
Consider our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ - Allah SWT could have revealed the entire Quran in one night, but instead chose to reveal it over 23 years. He could have granted His Prophet immediate victory from his first call to his people, but instead wrote him a journey of trials and growth through the years in Makkah and Madinah. The seerah teaches us that everything has its divinely appointed time - even for someone as beloved to Allah SWT as Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Your Dreams Need Time
If you're nurturing a dream that seems distant or impossible right now:
Keep purifying your intentions.
Continue your hard work.
Maintain your du'a to Allah SWT.
And give it time.
What seems impossible in months might be achievable in years.
Never underestimate the power of time - the same force that transforms a rock-hard avocado into a soft fruit can turn your "impossible" dreams into what others will call an "overnight" success, insha’Allah.
Sincerely,
